I don't think you can disable it but you can change the pickup time from 24 seconds (4 rings) to the max (I think it's 50-60 seconds) Like I said I did not have any of this with the old telo base. If your phone's answering machine is set to 4 rings, it should pick up before the ooma voicemail.
